A Little Bit About Your Teacher
FamilyMy family experienced a wonderful change in April 2017, when my husband and I welcomed our son, Sage Michael. Now we are a family of three, or five, with our two fur babies! I have three little brothers (not so little anymore) who mean the world to me, and who all live in Colorado. My husband, Mark, rocks -- he's the best husband in the world. He is a medivac pilot in the army, and flies super cool Black Hawk helicopters. He will deploy to the Middle East this October, and although I will miss him, I know how important his job is to his fellow soldiers. They need him just as much as I do (maybe more).

Education & ExperienceI am a Rapid City native, and I love the Black Hills! I graduated from Stevens High School in 2002. Although I began my college education studying business, I earned an undergraduate degree in English Education from Black Hills State University, and my Master's degree from Colorado State University. I have taught high school and college level students, but have discovered middle school is the "sweet spot," totally my jam. This will be my first year teaching eighth grade; previously I taught sixth grade Language and Literature at an IB middle school in Fort Collins, CO.

InterestsIn addition to spending time with my wonderful family, I enjoy trail and road running, reading all kinds of books, traveling the world, drinking yummy tea, looking at trees, eating tacos, hiking, walking beaches, trying to be like Joanna Gaines, and howling at the moon.
